After having opened a representative office in Beijing in 1995 Paul Wurth Metal Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. was set up in 1999 as wholly foreign owned enterprise invested by Paul Wurth S.A. Luxembourg.

Paul Wurth Metal Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd covers today around 40 people. A special focus lies on the design and supply of equipment used in the construction and modernization of blast furnace plants.

For the local Chinese market, our engineering and manufacturing capabilities allow us to offer high standard equipment based on imported Paul Wurth technology combined with supply of key components based on competitive local manufacturing. Outside of China, we offer to worldwide customers increased competitiveness by making use of local Chinese manufacture under the quality control of Paul Wurth.

Established in 2008, Shanghai Paul Wurth Metallurgical Equipment Manufacture Co. Ltd is the Group’s service arm in the P.R. of China. Beyond providing proximity services to the Chinese iron and steel industry, the workshop in Shanghai is specialised in the manufacture of complete original equipment, spare parts as well as reconditioning of Paul Wurth BLT charging equipment as well as components for cokemaking plants.

Paul Wurth was incorporated in India in 1993 as the first Asian subsidiary of the Group. Since then, Paul Wurth has made a substantial contribution to the development of India’s steel industry by supplying state-of-the-art technology and equipment for ambitious ironmaking projects. Paul Wurth has always pursued a policy of close contact with its customers and, thus, has established a trustful relationship with the most eminent Indian steel producers both from the public and private sector, who appreciate Paul Wurth for the quality and excellence of its products and services.  Expressed in figures, 40% of the Indian Hot Metal capacity is coming from Paul Wurth blast furnaces and Paul Wurth equipment contributes to 85% of Hot Metal production in India.

In 2014, Paul Wurth established a service workshop in Bhubaneshwar (Odisha) for the manufacture, repair and maintenance of various equipment and components. This approach is in line with the “Make in India” concept and increases even more our proximity and responsiveness towards our Indian customers.

In 2023, Paul Wurth India merged with SMS India Pvt. Ltd.

Located in Kaohsiung, South of Taiwan, since its creation in 1994, Paul Wurth Taiwan with its 15 employees represents the Group in South and North East Asia and Australasia. It is dedicated to the procurement of local manufacture and engineering. In collaboration with local companies, the entity is able to contribute to the design of complete plants for the local and international market, particularly in the disciplines of civil, electrical, instrumentation and programmable logic controller supplemented by a whole range of customer services – engineering, project management, site supervision, commissioning and after-sales service – as well as by environmental protection technologies.

Over the past years, the Taiwan entity has built up a reputation for itself on the market as contact for Paul Wurth equipment and for the promotion of our product portfolio in South and North East Asia.

In close collaboration with the Taiwan entity, Paul Wurth Korea Branch is a two-man-branch that services the local customer base and follows up the expansion and modernisation projects of the Korean iron and steel industry.

In 2012, Paul Wurth has joined hands with the Japanese company IHI Corporation to create a new Joint Venture company in Tokyo, called Paul Wurth IHI Co., Ltd.

Thanks to the 50/50 Joint Venture, the Paul Wurth Group will be able to reinforce its presence in Japan and offer the local iron & steel industry the entire portfolio of our most advanced iron and coke making technologies.

Although the first focus of Paul Wurth IHI is the Japanese market, its activities shall expand onto the extended South-East Asia territory.

Set up in 1984, Paul Wurth Inc. is the extended arm of the Group in the North American iron and steel industry through the sale and manufacture of specialised blast furnace and steelmaking equipment.

Having over the years successfully obtained orders for nearly the entire range of Paul Wurth products, the ca. 30 employees of Paul Wurth Inc. mainly concentrate today on engineering and supply of equipment in the context of blast furnace relines in the United States and in Canada.

Our North American Service Centre operated by Paul Wurth Inc. is located in Valparaiso, Indiana, in the Great Lakes region in close proximity to our customers. Our experts there provide a broad assortment of site and shop services for the full range of Paul Wurth equipment, such as Bell Less Top® components, stove equipment, all types of valves and casthouse equipment.

In 2022, Paul Wurth Inc. merged with SMS group Inc.

Incorporated in 1977, Paul Wurth do Brasil is the oldest overseas branch of the Paul Wurth Group and counts today about 70 employees.

Headquartered in Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais, Paul Wurth do Brasil is strategically located in an equidistant position from the biggest Brazilian iron and steel industries. The Brazilian office also takes care of other markets in South America.

Having acquired an undeniable reputation for the successful implementation of large-scale projects in the blast furnace as well as steelworks sector, Paul Wurth do Brasil counts among its customers the most eminent Brazilian steel producers, to which it provides personalised services. Moreover, Paul Wurth do Brasil also enters into partnership with other companies to supply equipment and services with a high quality and technology level.

In 2008, an increased demand for local services led to the creation of Paul Wurth do Brasil Services, a new dedicated unit, giving support to Paul Wurth customers with regard to maintenance services, spare parts, repair and reconditioning of Paul Wurth and TMT equipment and manufacture of small components.

Focusing on construction, modernisation and repair as well as maintenance of equipment and complete industrial plants, our maintenance and erection division in Brazil holds the resources and expert skills to service all the traditional areas of Paul Wurth´s activities such as blast furnaces, cokemaking plants and sinter & pellet plants, besides other areas such as steelmaking, non-ferrous metals, mining, oil & gas, pulp & paper and other industries.

Grounded on the solid reliability of nearly 150 years of expertise available within the group, Paul Wurth do Brasil Montagens e Manutenção Industrial Ltda was established in 2014 and counts on a highly qualified and competent team of 90 people. Given its international network as well as its high commitment and professionalism applied as guiding principles, the company clearly provides strategic advantages compared to the conventional erection and maintenance market.
